Owl Rescue

Perched on the rooftops of London, there are hundreds of statues warding off pigeons and other unwanted birds. And no, we're not talking about Antony Gormley statues. We're talking about owls. Plastic owls that keep us safe from invading hordes of pigeons.

But what happens when those plastic statues come loose from their fixings? After all, we can't let them just drop into the streets. They're not doing their jobs if they're randomly attacking harmless pedestrians from the sky.

Clearly, it's fire fighters to the rescue! A fire fighting team in Epsom launched a rescue mission to remove an 18 inch plastic owl from the roof of the police station on Banstead High Street last Saturday.

And, as befits any animal (plastic or otherwise) who has put in such a long and dignified career, the owl has been adopted by the fire fighters, and has found a new home on the roof of the fire station on Church Street in Epsom. We're sure he's doing a fantastic job of protecting the fire station from unwanted pigeons.
