Tate Modern bursting with visitors

Did you notice that the chimney stack atop the Tate Modern looked a little bigger today? A little more erect? Swelled with pride perhaps? Well, no wonder:
Tate Modern is the second most visited venue in the country with 4.9m visitors, according to new research.

The site, in London's South Bank, saw an increase of 21% in the number of its visitors compared to 2005.

If London was on fire and we had time to pick up one building and save it, it would probably be the Tate Modern. And not just because it's regularly filled with hot foreign students.

But what cultural beacon could be beating our own beloved power station of art?

Blackpool Pleasure Beach topped the poll with 5.7m visits

Ha, no seriously. What topped the list?

Really?

Fuck.
