With bonfire night just around the corner, Parliament must be getting a little nervous. Unblinking beady eyes will no doubt be focused on Southwark Crown Court today where Brian Haw takes on Sir Ian Blair over the removal of his placards way back in May 06. No updates as yet but yesterday the BBC reported a master stroke of anti-terror logic in that Haw's camp could present a terrorist target. More specifically that Haw's......

Pakistan's president has claimed in his memoir that the Al Qaeda 'mastermind' behind 9/11 was also connected to the 7 July bombings. A 22-year-old man is being questioned by police over the death of Lucy Brahamm who was found stabbed to death at her parents' house in the grounds of Harrow School ten days ago. Looks like Frost/Nixon is going to make its way to Broadway and the big screen (with Ron Howard directing......

Those who maintain that South London really isn’t a bit shit have a new and unexpected ally. Aliens. They can’t get enough of the place. Gobsmacked witnesses watched on in amazement as two sets of bright orange lights flew eerily in formation through the skies above Balham and Tooting on Friday, August 4. No doubt checking out that superb new supermarket in Norwood. You see, they know the area well. Reports of mysterious flying......

While Bollywood still seems set to make their own London bombing movie, closer to home that colossus of insensitivity Alan Partridge is leaving the subject of London and terrorism well alone according to Twitch: the original script was scrapped as insensitive following the London subway bombing. Now, insensitivity is kind of the point of Partridge, so what put them over the edge? The film was intended to revolve around an Al Qaeda seige. I......

Turns out the four original bombers did a practice run at the end of June. Imagine that. You arrive at a station together, go your separate ways and then keeping an eye on your watch you countdown the seconds until your backpack would have exploded. Maybe you take a look at the people sat around you - oblivious to the fact they'd all be dead if this was the real thing. Then you get......

Well, it's the Blog Roundup, so it must be Thursday. The pulse of the London Blogtinuum has gently been returning to normal over the past week, with the exception of the continued discussion and analysis of the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian electrician who was shot eight times by the Police at Stockwell station last Friday. When dealing with matters Stockwell, there's really only one place to turn: OnionBagBlog. We've been......

EMERGENCY HOTLINE: 0870 1566 344 Some useful links: Guardian News Blog. Very useful Wikipedia page. Transport for London. Breaking News: the entire tube network is down and all stations are being evacuated because of reported 'power surges' at various places on the system. Explosions have been reported at Edgware Road and Aldgate and there are reports of 'walking wounded' and commuters smashing windows of trains with 'their umbrellas' to get out. There is at least......

We're not saying today is a slow news day or anything... but there are currently 218 stories on Google news telling the story of how Nancy Reagan fell over in the Ritz hotel yesterday. Apparently "the octogenarian former First Lady" (as the Standard so poeticially put it) was taken to hospital yesterday after going for a burton in her hotel room, but was released after a full examination. A spokeswoman confirmed that Mrs Reagan......

Public Private Partnerships on the Tube have been slammed harder than passengers' heads during a derailment, in a new parliamentary report. Politics.co.uk reports that far from improving things under the streets of London the PPP approach has resulted in an increase of incidents that "could jeopardise safety on the Underground". Contractors are "pocketing £2m a week in profits" and yet the damn thing is as bad as ever and perhaps more dangerous. Londonist hopes......
