If you had been enjoying a nice dinner in the Prince's Gate/Knightsbridge area last night, you may have noticed some kind of of disturbance. That disturbance, was, in fact, a petrol bomb going through the front doors of the Iranian Embassy. Mercifully, no one was hurt, and the Embassy was left with only minor damage. An investigation is currently under way for the arsonists and their motives.......

A surprisingly sympathetic judge spared jail sentences for two young men who wrapped five cars in cling film before setting them on fire last September, causing nearly £8,000 in damage. Then men, who plead guilty to arson and were expecting a jail sentence -- they'd even packed their bags -- were surprised and delighted to learn that the judge bought their "we were drunk and stupid and had a lapse in judgement" defence. Seriously. The......

This is what we have learned this weekend whilst you’ve been indulging those spring-time DIY pangs: LU has become very censorious of late. What’s to offend about a photo of a fat, pink-boxer-shorted Christ on the cross? A couple of shoppers were so worried about being caught for card fraud that they ran out of a Bromley store leaving their baby behind. High jinx in High Wycombe. Actually a bit more serious than that......

As reported last week, Monday should see you going crazy to hear that one good song (are there others) by Peter Bjorn and John at the forum. More importantly make sure you get there in time to see support act Those Dancing Days. We caught them at Water Rats on Saturday and are pleased to report they combine cuteness and moodiness with alarming grace. The much loved Beirut play an instore at Rough Trade......

Playing a gig as a solo musician can be quite a strange experience. Rocking up to a dingy pub on your own with just a guitar for company can be at once isolating and liberating - you may miss out on the friendly banter of bandmates and friends but it certainly seems to make dealing with calamity easier, as I experienced last Tuesday night. The pub in question - Leonard's on Northampton Road, EC2.......

We tried to watch the live coverage on BBC News 24 of the family of Jean Charles de Menezes visiting the scene of his death, but found the whole thing too depressing. The running commentary didn't help - "His mother is breaking down...", nor the sight of the press pack all huddled round trying to get the 'best' photograph of the bewildered and traumatised family. Not one of the Beeb's best moments. Matozinhos Otone Da......

It's bonfire night tomorrow: time to scare the pets, burn the traitor, eat sugar coated fruit on a stick and partake in some organised arson. Yay! Below we present our rough guide to bonfire nights across the capital: Clapham Common: One of the biggest, with 40,000 expected to turn up. The fireworks display is expensive and there'll be lots of ooohs and aaahs. Plenty of pubs in the vicinity so booze is easily available. Roundwood......
