A century of plastic is being celebrated at the Science Museum! Eubank arrested after he drove his 32ft seven tonne protest lorry past an armed patrol, entered Whitehall and approached Downing Street. Again. Go to the Museum of London this summer, go to the requisite room and you shall see the skeleton of a headless Roman. Metronet are to 'streamline'. Ooo, ooo, aerodynamic tunnels allowing bullet train speeds? Nope. A crowded-platform's worth of redundancies.......

A campaign has begun to rejig the way the lanes work in the Blackwall tunnel. There are over 100 signatures on the petition. Power to the people. Those who died in the recent M25 crash are mourned. More arrests have been made regarding 7/7. An illegal motorcyle track in South London is so popular, it now has its own burger van. Now I know my ABC, won't you come and spray with me. These typographic shutters have been around the Shoreditch area for AGES, but we couldn't resist featuring them in the wake of the Brooke Shields Alphabet mystery. The letters were created at least a year and a half ago by Eine, and many are still there. We've tracked down a fair few, but have to acknowledge Dave Gorman for several. He's captured the......

Hard on the heels of the Photo of the Day, we thought we should mention the fact that there's currently some serious talk going on about establishing a real-life, honest-to-goodness, proper, physical, three dimensional, 'when I was your age all this was fields', Flickr gallery in London. Here's the general idea: Convince Flickr / Yahoo! to rent out a gallery space somewhere in London (nowhere flashy - maybe a community centre or a college).......

Those of you who dip into, or even contribute to, our Flickr group may have noticed the presence of comedian Dave Gorman amongst the regular contributors. We've even used a couple of his images in the Extra, Extra from time to time (including this one of the Sinner/Winner preacher just a couple of weeks ago). A couple of days ago Dave uploaded the image above of Battersea Power Station to his account and included......

One of the great Standard headlines of the year so far: Ravers seize £5 million house. Apparently David Walliams is cowering in his kitchen, afraid to leave the house. 16 and 17-year-olds in full-time education will be able to travel free on London buses and trams from tomorrow. Ken has outlined his vision for the West End: trams on Oxford Street, scrapping the Marble Arch roundabout and transforming the "tacky buildings" at the other......

A new survey has shown that half of the businesses operating in London do not have a plan in place to deal with a terror attack or other emergencies. The US Embassy is now claiming diplomatic immunity over it's $500,000 worth of unpaid congestion charge fees. London will host this year's EuroPride, Europe's largest gay and lesbian cultural festival, over two weeks in June culminating in a 500,000-strong parade. Plans to turn the Oyster......

Cab drivers have been moaning again. As we reported last week, a protest by cabbies against Camden's over-zealous traffic wardens went ahead yesterday. The Institute for Public Policy Research has put in an entry for the State The Obvious Competition 2006! - Long Journey Times Frustrate Drivers. In other news, the Pope is still a Catholic, and the woods are still the favoured place for bears to defecate. Pete Doherty missed a court appearance.......

Celebrity Flickr accounts: interesting or not? Depends on the celebrity of course, but we have to say that when we heard Dave Gorman had signed himself up to do a bit of photo sharing we bookmarked him immediately. And we weren't disappointed: Muji's London in a Bag taken to meet the real thing. Not in a bag.......
