So it's the beginning of the legal end to the Madonna and Guy Ritchie marriage, and with minimal fuss or fiscal bitterness. Ritchie won't be taking any of Madonna's millions, their young sons will split their time between the US where Her Madgeness will reside with daughter Lourdes and the UK where Guy will stay. The couple's joint London properties include Mayfair pub The Punchbowl and a big house in Marylebone. The biggest news......

Well, it serves this Londonista right for seeking something inane and non-controversial as a lead today. Sixty something schmoozer secretly seeks solace in the company of a range of rather lovely ladies in London. Hardly headline stuff, even if the sexagenarian in question is Macca. Earlier on this year it was the turn of Sabrina Guinness, herself a serial dater, and then late summer saw him dallying with married millionairess Nancy Shevell, and now it......

Paul McCartney's ex was in London yesterday for a photo shoot for the charity Viva!. Along with Heather Mills, Viva! would like us all to please eat less meat, dairy and other animal products in order to reduce global warming. We fully applaud Viva!'s commitment to the environment, and thoroughly enjoy names that feature punctuation, but we wonder how effective this campaign really is going to be. While we can't personally see switching to......

This morning, Grandmothers were saving lives. Now, just a few hours later, they're being found guilty of murder. The news is seeing more and more about the terrifying 'honour killings' that seem to be happening amongst families. Bachan Athwal from Hayes, even boasted to relatives that she had got a relative to strangle her daughter-in-law, Surjit Athwal, and throw her body into a river in Punjab. This was nine years ago. Despite the horror......

All across the Ist-A-Verse (or at least the American parts thereof), writers and editors are in the midst of enjoying their three-day weekend. But after the week we've all had, we feel like the break is not only needed, but deserved. Just look at everything we've been doing! Gothamist headed into the Memorial Day weekend with a number of tasks accomplished. They worried about Long Islanders giving New Yorkers a bad name. They tried......

Don't just rebuild the Cutty Sark, make it seaworthy too. So says Simon Jenkins. The police are interested in talking to a female flasher. We can't say we blame them. No flashing in West London, as a new type of speed camera is tested. Another big London fire. This time, a Poplar church feels the flames. London, divorce capital of the world? Kirsty MacColl's final album was the rather wonderfully Cuban-influenced Tropical Brainstorm which included the 2000 hit 'In these Shoes'. Her career had always had its fair share of ups and downs, but a disproportionate amount of her seminal work (either her own songs or cover versions) seems to tap directly into our own feelings and memories at the time - Walking Down Madison, collaboration with the Pogues, A New England, Days. After the success......

Forbes Magazine have just published their list of the world’s richest, including a break-down of the most lined pockets in London. The full article’s worth a read. Did you know London is something of a tax haven for the super-rich? Makes you feel proud, doesn’t it? Here’s a run-down of the top five: 1. Laksmi Mittal Who he? The world’s fifth richest chap. Made a few bob from trading in steel. A magnetic magnate?......

Think 'Drury Lane' and you think theatre and culture and lovey stuff like that. You don't think scandal, litigation and domestic violence. At least you didn't, not until Drury-News-Gate (note to self: need better name for this). Yes, it's been revealed today that the anonymous fax which reignited the whole McCartney divorce furore with its allegations of domestic violence, spouse-on-spouse cruelty and breast-related selfishness was sent from an innocent-looking establishment in Covent Garden known......

Just a mini Troll this week, fans, as we're addicted to the Big Brother (every damn day, 9pm C4) crackpipe and neglecting such things as eating, sleeping and, indeed, moving. Shahbaz hiding all the food was one of the funniest things we've ever seen, all the while muttering about how "it's all their fault" and "send me to Coventry, will you" and "nobody loves me boo hoo hoo". We are hoping against hope that......

When Oyster cards were first introduced there was an initial, not unsurprising, concern over privacy issues. Some people just didn't want their every movement logged by London Transport, even if it meant slightly cheaper journeys. In recent days however those fears have taken on a slightly different twist, with private detectives and lawyers beginning to report that suspicious husbands and wives are accessing the information to track their partner's whereabouts. The Independent recently called......

The as yet unfinished Wembley Stadium has been under fire for most of it's embryonic life, at times literally and of late, figuratively. It has been confirmed that the stadium will not be ready in time for the FA Cup final which was to be Wembley's formal unveiling on 13 May, and a new date for the opening cannot be given by Australian building firm Multiplex. Losses have surpassed £75million and are creeping towards......

It's a difficult time to be law abiding. If you be a good little consumer and hand over a wad of money to see a film at the cinema instead of downloading it then you get to sit through a warning telling you to BEHAVE. Same if you rent a DVD and end up with a lecture on why you shouldn't be watching pirated copies that can't be skipped even though you're one of......

Earlier this year Londonist contacted the parenting pressure group Fathers 4 Justice to see if we could get an interview with them. We wanted to talk to them because it seems that many of their 'stunts' take place in the capital and Londoners tend to have very divided opinions on the group's methods as well as their aims. The following is an email conversation we had with Martin Cook, a 44-year-old Finance Director of......
