He’s climbed the world’s most iconic structures from the Eiffel Tower to the Petronas Towers. But French ‘Spiderman’ Alain Robert chose a curious challenge during his trip to London yesterday: Portland House on Victoria Street. Here’s the brute. As in, here’s Portland House, not Monsieur Robert. He’s much more gorgeous, see ---> The Gallic climber scaled the 320 ft building as a protest against climate change. On reaching the top, he was arrested for wasting......

Between fake terrorist alerts and scandals big and small, this just might be the Best Best of the -ists ever. We're exhausted just thinking about it. First up, SFist, who saw their little 'ole site be the center of what was a nice little scandal (even getting their editor on TV) only to find their scandal dwarfed by the even bigger scandal caused by their Mayor boffing one of his aides' wife. We're not......

Calm down, it's not a very slow invasion - just yet another cool thing for us all to gawk at: Today a pioneering airship adventure is being launched in London. It is planned that the journey will take in landmarks including Big Ben,......

Surely it’s not possible to dislike the gherkin? It’s that rare Lineker of buildings –distinctive profile, super-famous yet loved by all. Or so we thought... Washington Post architecture critic Roger K Lewis isn’t the biggest fan. His latest column pours careful scorn on Foster’s masterpiece, calling it repetitive and intrusive. He also opines that the gherkin ‘disregards its site’, which comprises ‘a tightly knit medieval fabric of narrow streets and small blocks’. Erm, did......

Only one goal ahead and four minutes to go it looked as if it might be extra time, but Fisher Athletic hung on to beat brave Hendon 3-2 in the final of the London FA Senior Cup on Tuesday night. Fisher had been 3-0 up after an hour, but Hendon struck back soon after and a late goal made the dying minutes nervous for the leaders before they could finally add this trophy to......

The papers today are full* of the Kamel Bourgass story, the guy who was arrested back in 2003, murdered a Manchester policeman and is already serving a life sentence. He's now been given a further seventeen years for his part in a suspected al-Qaeda plot. The details make for grim reading after reporting restrictions were lifted on Wednesday and unsurprisingly London was a possible target. Police believe the plot extended to planned attacks on......

We can't really say that A View to a Kill was one of our favourite Bond movies, but it did have its moments. Grace Jones as May Day leaping from the Eiffel Tower leaving a past-his-prime Roger Moore to raise an iconic eyebrow after her gliding parachute. Unfortunately Grace's latest escape from Paris was less smooth. It seems that the former Conan the Destroyer star took the Eurostar from Paris to London last night......

The London Eye has been voted the world's "best tourist attraction". Obviously we think that's great. We love the Eye (we wouldn't have put it in our logo if we didn't) and about the only thing wrong with it is that designers David Marks and Julia Barfield have had nothing but debt trouble since they Eye opened. But 'best tourist attraction in world'? Granted, the survey was run by Pringles, and they only asked......

We've all run into American tourists who try and cram as much culture and sightseeing into the shortest possible time frame. Big Ben in the morning, the Eiffel Tower in the afternoon and The Leaning Tower of Pisa before bed. These days of course seventeen countries in five days isn't bad when you look at how long some of them have been stuck in just one country: Iraq. Now the new US Secretary of......
