This week, Londonist caught two bands at either end of the musical scale - American metal stars Wolves in the Throne Room @ Underworld and the ever great Elbow at an intimate Porchester Hall show. We also started offering you the chance to win tickets to see Late of the Pier on February 28th. We also previewed the forthcoming second iTunes festival, which starts this coming Thursday. Looking forward to this week however, Monday night......

Every year the Londonist team hits Camden for one mad night of dashing from venue to venue necking pints for Camden Crawl. This year, in all their money-spinning wisdom, the crawl has been expanded to two nights. We're not quite sure how much this is going to work (and with tickets at £26 a day, makes it a much more expensive proposition) but we'll no doubt give it ago. Today the first line-up has......

Black Celebration is a yearly all dayer showcasing the Industrial Underground and giving all the goths who graduated from the scene to shopping in CyberDog and having nice careers in IT somewhere to go. Now it's reached its 7th or so year, which makes us feel a bit old for a start, we headed up to Islington Academy to turn what should be a sleepy Sunday into a day full of something quite different.......

Two dark and disturbing despatches from the depths of D-list celebrity today. First up: central London is now a Pete Burns free zone. The ex-Celeb Big Brother 'star' was conditionally bailed for harrassing ex-boyfriend Jason Peters but has been ordered to wear an electronic tag and keep a 10pm to 6am curfew, and told to stay out of the congestion charge zone "unless he has a pre arranged appointment." Apparently when Pete turned up......

"Do not withhold your Mercy from us. O Lord; may Your love and Your truth always protect us. For troubles without numbers surround us; our sins have overtaken us and we cannot see. Our sins are more than the hairs of our heads, and our hearts fail within us. Be pleased, O Lord, to save us; O Lord, come quickly to help us." Another week another great tube read. Stephen King's Cell is a......

Ever since Al Jolson opened his gob in the Jazz Singer the worlds of cinema and rock'n'roll have become inextricably linked. You're going to have to go with us on the Jazz Singer rock'n'roll analogy but you know what we mean. Almost 100 years later and we have movie stars wanting to become rock stars (Lyndsey Lohan anyone???) and rock stars wanting to become movie stars (Gene Simmons and half the cast of Singles).......

Thursday afternoon in the Londonist dungeon, and the fetid air is filled with the sound of blistered and bloodied fingers tapping manically on keyboards. The Editor pokes his head out of his luxury climate-controlled office.... "Premiership Preview Bloke...in here. Now." "Yes boss?" "Your predictions are a disgrace." "But I got two right last week." "TWO?!? Hardly Alan Hansen is it? And your attempt to jump on the Chelsea backlash bandwagon was laughable. You missed......

...favourites, the Kaiser Chiefs. So no surprises there then. In fourteen years the Mercury Music Prize Chiefs have only once voted in the populist choice, last year's Franz Ferdinand, instead opting for the muso-ically worthy (2000's Talvin Singh), the then obscure (2003's Dizzee Rascal) or the just plain odd ('94's M People). Which is why, last night, one of the few remaining award ceremonies not chosen by viewers of T4, awarded the prize for......

Recognise that line? Of course you do, it's from Mike Skinner's debut album, Original Pirate Material, specifically the single Let's Push things Forward. Now we like Mike. Not only does he make great records (A Grand Don't Come for Free being our favourite album of 2004 by a long chalk), he also lives in a converted pub in Stockwell and has just become the first UK musician to be asked to star in Reebok's......

The nominations for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize are out and, as you would expect, it's a mixed bag (all quotes are from the Mercury judges): The Magic Numbers – The Magic Numbers "The Magic Numbers celebrate the joy of singing pop harmonies so fervently that it’s impossible not to cheer along." M.I.A. – Arular "Hip-hop, ragga, dancehall, pop and electro never sounded such perfect soulmates." Polar Bear – Held On The Tips Of......

If you've not heard Croydon's answer to the Scissor Sisters, Do Me Bad Things, you need to, if only to have an opinion on them. The eclectically-influenced band will be bringing their pop tunes, loud guitars, soulful voices, top class drinking abilities, costume changes and a bit of dancing to Concorde 2 next Tuesday 7th June. No doubt DMBT will be doing their bit to build bridges between the Croydon-based Crystal Palace and Brighton......

Are Reebok glamorising gun crime? Lucy Cope of Southwark believes so and has complained to the Advertising Standards Authority regarding an advertisement featuring 50 cent. Mrs Cope's son was shot dead outside a London club three years ago and she considers the current Reebok advertising campaign "disgusting". The ads in question show the rapper counting up to nine - this is apparently a reference to him being shot nine times and not, as Londonist......
