Before Russell Brand wound up Jordin 'not a slut' Sparks with his antics at the MTV Video Awards earlier in the week, he was most famous to Americans for appearing as a British Rock N Roller in break-up comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Out on DVD on Monday, the comedy has teamed up with us to offer two readers a pair of guestlist to next Saturday's Feeling Gloomy at Islington Academy. There you can share......

Philadelphia experimental indie stars Enon play the Luminaire on Monday night, with around 17 tickets left (at time of writing) on We Got Tickets. Support comes in the shape of Ill Ease, which features "Elizabeth Sharp playing guitar, bass, drums, tambourine, shaker, car horn and anything else that rattles, buzzes, shakes or hums in a riff-o-matic racket" apparently. Should be good. Meanwhile over at 93 Feet East, Seattle singer-songwriter David Bazan plays his folk-rock. Tickets......

New Years Eve is a funny one. Some people think it's the best night ever, and those who don't are kind of forced into thinking maybe they should be thinking that and invariably end up having a rubbish night. But how about you just think about it as an excuse to go dancing - that's never a bad idea. Here's our favourite dancefloor happenings tomorrow night. If it's dance music you want, then absolutely......

As most major bands go into festival mode at the moment, London plays host to the best of the alternative bands from across the UK and worldwide. German classic rock your sort of thing? We've been invaded, albeit willingly, by Vikings recently. Ah, that sounds a bit filthy. What we're trying to say is that London-based fans of Viking metal have been particularly well catered for recently, what with Ensiferum the other week and with Amon Amarth last Wednesday at the Islington Academy. Actually, the AA gig was more of a double bill as far as this Londonista was concerned; with Finntroll providing support, for once the non-headline......

Well we didn't see this one coming: Bis are to play two gigs to celebrate 10 years since the release of New Transistor Heroes They might have only split three years ago, but we're quite excited about this, particularly as the younger half of the Londonist Music Dungeon only got into them last year. There's a date in Glasgow but for us Londoners, they play Islington Academy on April 7th and tickets are on......

Black Celebration is a yearly all dayer showcasing the Industrial Underground and giving all the goths who graduated from the scene to shopping in CyberDog and having nice careers in IT somewhere to go. Now it's reached its 7th or so year, which makes us feel a bit old for a start, we headed up to Islington Academy to turn what should be a sleepy Sunday into a day full of something quite different.......

Despite having their thunder stolen slightly by The Puppini Sisters (who are nothing like them), The Pipettes have come a long way since we first supported them back in 2004. Their 4th major release, Judy, is out today and sees them deliver their best video yet (click photo). Still, we can't help but wish Judy had been played by the girl who plays that nasty cow Clare in Hollyoaks. The girls play their biggest......

End of a Tuesday is almost mid week, and since there's been a flurry of activity within the Londonist Music inbox, always a sure sign that the music world is shaking off it's fluffy winter feathers and gearing up for another year of doing damage to our collective eardrums, we thought it was time to catch up with a few friends hanging around various stages over the next few days. It's a little late......

With all this book reading, tv viewing, lecture attending, film watching and Ken chasing, we at the Londonist towers have realised we've forgotten to do one vital thing. We've forgotten to dance! Upon this realisation we immediately rushed to the nearest Office and bought ourselves a pair of comfortable, yet stylish dancing shoes. We've just put them on and by heck we're going to use them. Ladies and Gentlemen of London, beware, the Londonistas are......

"We were Three Colours Red and we loved every fucking minute of it!" The first time we saw Three Colours Red they were opening an all dayer in some London field with KISS headlining. It was a memorable performance which is saying a lot when you still have flashbacks to Paul Stanley in facepaint, hovering above the crowd on wires while Ace Frehley shoots fireworks from his guitar... One way or another though the......

At the time of writing the grand folk of this fine island nation are still deciding which venerable party is going to be responsible for late running trains and broken tube lines so as you read this you could be weeping for joy or arranging your residents visa for Chad. We didn't think that Eminem would want to be outdone by the likes of Destiny's Child, and we were right. After rumours of a Hyde Park gig were denied earlier this month, the chainsaw-wielding one has now anounced a 'secret London gig'. According to the NME Eminem "will appear at a Shady Records night at a secret location on Saturday". The venue is to be announced on Kiss FM on Friday with tickets going......
