It’s really all about the Olympics this week, and we’ve told you all about what to watch. But if you’re not in a sporting mood, here are a few other things you may want to take a look at. On TV, Londonist likes: Tuesday, 12 August Margaret the Tabloid Princess: Revealed (Five, 20:00-21:00)) Princess Margaret spawned the paparazzi appetite for photos of royals stumbling out of London nightclubs, and this documentary looks at her......

We celebrated the good guys of the London Ambulance Service and St Johns Ambulance looking out for us on New Year's Eve - but we're a little less jubilant about the crowd of cameras keeping a beady eye on us every day of the year. A report in September last year said there were 10,000 surveillance cameras in London recording our every move, and putting the UK into the highest ranking country in the......

While the crowds were enjoying the many splendid fireworks around London on New Year's Eve, there were some people not looking at the sky exploding with colour and going 'Ooooh!' but instead looking at wounds, blood pressure monitors and puddles of sick. The London Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance teams were working through the busiest New Year's Eve celebrations since the Millennium Eve night and between them dealt with 1,825 calls. With a......

After last week’s news that our ambulances are the best in the country, Londoners should be pleased to hear that there’s now another reason why, if you’re going to have medical trouble, you may as well do it in the capital. Londoners’ chances of surviving a cardiac arrest outside the hospital have more than trebled in the last five years, according to a new report by the London Ambulance Service. About one in six......

London Ambulance Service is the best. And it has the best blogger, too. Just as well, because gun crime has risen 10%. Free wifi on London to Milton Keynes bus route. At last, a reason to go to the new town. Securitas robbers sported 'false noses, chins, moustaches, stubble and hairlines'. Putney's rear of the year fought off 'rear-ly tough competition' by showing off 'her best ass-et'. Image of Primrose Hill courtesy of ignacio......

Or something like that anyway. The London Ambulance Service has certainly scored the highest in the country, which is just dandy as it has had more than its fair share of criticism over the years, especially following 7/7. Driving is about one of the most stressful things you can do in London, and one of the most heart-rending sights in the capital has surely to be that of a grim-faced ambulance driver, lights flashing, sirens......

If all your mates are off on holiday and work is unbearably dull and hot then here's some home entertainment to get you through the mid-August slump. On TV, Londonist likes: Monday, 13 August Panorama (BBC1, 20:30) If you're avoiding Dawkins on Channel 4 (and we've no idea why you would but it's not about London so we're not going to make a fuss about it but it's on at 20.00 and we could......

Now it’s properly August there’s not much coming up on the tellybox. However, if you really can’t be arsed to get out there and catch some cheap London, Camden Fringe or Shoreditch Festival then you could keep your London head in check by paying attention to the following: On TV, Londonist likes: Monday, 6 August Super Vets (BBC1, 19:30-20:00) Terrible title but a nice opportunity to catch a behind the scenes look at London......

It looks like summer might actually have arrived in London this week, but if you're determined to stay inside, here are a few things to help you bide the time. On TV, Londonist likes: Monday, 30 July The Tower (BBC1, 22:35-11:25) After the disputes last week about whether or not the Pepys Estate was being represented fairly in this 8 part documentary, this is your chance to form your own opinion. In episode 6,......

There's something about London's emergency services that creates great blogs. Random Acts of Reality has been stunning from the get go and is still going strong; World Weary Detective was similarly excellent (until it was forced to close); and if you haven't got Nee Naw in your bookmarks then shame on you. Nee Naw is home to Mark Myers, an Emergency Medical Dispatcher for the London Ambulance Service: If you were to walk into......
