Our very own Londonist Eye finally has a friend: Essex man Michael Williams has constructed a model of Tower Bridge out of matchsticks. While our own effort was knocked out in the space of a half hour, using a motley collection of pipe cleaners, straws and bits of twine, the Tower Bridge scale model took Mr Williams a decade and is comprised of 1.6 million matches. Lates are ace. That is a fact. So we were very excited to be invited to participate in the Museum of London Late last night as posers of a round of their pub quiz questions and dead keen quiz boffins. The spacious foyer was jammed full of eager teams on garden chairs, cushions and picnic rugs quaffing plenty from the makeshift bar (or was that just us?) Intervals between rounds allowed time for trips......

BA are to withdraw sponsorship of the London Eye from next month. The airline says its 'sponsorship priorities have changed', and it no longer wishes to support the attraction, which it has sponsored since the wheel's inception. So who's going to take over? Well, it was revealed today that Boris has a £1 million campaign fund to play with. Might we see straw barnets atop every pod? How about Wagon Wheels, those wholesome chocolatey......
