Here’s what we’ve learned while you’ve been battening down your hatches and bringing the cattle in: In the weekend crime round-up…police were rather cross to be shot at on Friday, while there was an unseemly brawl outside Claire’s Accessories (we blame the pink feather boas). And in the wannabe-crime round-up, meet the bunny burglar who managed to cage himself. Shiny new terminal, shiny new security measures: there will be fingerprinting for all at T5.......

And we’re not just talking about the hills of the Chankly Bore. Londoners are being advised to batten down the hatches on Monday morning, when a rather ferocious weather front is predicted to romp across the UK. The Met Office has gotten all serious on us. After that weather forecast, they have of course been awfully careful, but this seems to be more than the normal, jovial ‘wrap-up-a-bit-warmer’ banter. And even our favourite meteorological website......

This Week In London’s History Monday – 6th August 1937: Barbara Windsor is born in Shoreditch in central London. She would achieve fame as an actress, notably as a ‘saucy strumpet’ in the Carry On films of the 60s and 70s and later as a major character in Eastenders. Tuesday – 7th August 2001: The Department of Health pays £27 million for a private Harley Street heart hospital, re-nationalising it and bringing it into......

Yeah we know this week is verging on the unbearable, you don't need us to tell you that, what we're talking about here is the temperature trends over the past decade. According to figures released by the Met Office, in May 1996 the average daily temperature was just under 11C, at the same time this year it was almost 15C. Similarly in August 1996, the average stood at just over 18C, by the time......

In an unprecedented and shocking statement yesterday the Met Office declared that the weather might not do quite what they predicted it might do a few weeks ago. According to Reuters the country's top weather geeks have done a u-turn on their predictions for a white Christmas in London: "It does seem that a mild spell starting in the run up to Christmas will take us through the Christmas period," Met Office Spokesman Barry......

Earlier on in the week we were told that Thursday was the day London might see it's first snowfall (or 'Armageddon' as its referred to in the transport industry) but yesterday passed without so much as a flake, and it now looks more likely that we might see some of the white stuff this weekend. The BBC 5 day weather report shows bright sunshine for Saturday but by the time we get to Sunday......

This Is London have just put up an article claiming that London may see snow as early as this Thursday. "The Met Office said London's daytime temperature will drop below freezing this week," explains the article, "with maximum readings of 2C (36F) expected at the weekend." There's also a warning from the RAC regarding black ice and travel delays, which even extends to the Tube: "The cold snap is also likely to slow public......

Enough of the snow and the rain and the winds already. What everyone wants to know is when we'll be able to get to work without hat hair and a numb face. Londonist scoured some of the weather sites and found the following predictions. The Met Office is looking five days ahead and is promising daytime temperatures of 6-7°C as early as Sunday and Monday next week. UK Weather.com is a little braver, looking a......

The first tentative predictions for a white Christmas in London are starting to come through. The Weather Action website is predicting a 50/50 chance of snow in the capital on Christmas Day...so either it will or it won't then. Great. William Hill are not so sure, they're offering 9/2 on the chance of a flake or two, while Paddy Power are offering 6/1 that snowfall will be "officially registered at Heathrow Airport on Christmas......
