Here at Londonist we love random foreign pop. Normally it's Scandanavian but French music also has a big place in our hearts. So we're excited to see that this week shouty French popstar Yelle is in town. She's supporting Mika tonight (Tuesday) but screw that - later on this evening she's playing her own gig at Great Eastern Street's Old Blue Last. Now we must warn you but a gig at the Old Blue......

This week saw Londonist Get Scientific when we previewed We Are Scientists playing Soho Revue Bar this Tuesday, get excited about Eurovision and get cosy with Portico Quartet. A busy week all in all! Looking ahead to this week however, we have Eels playing Royal Festival Hall on Monday night. They've invited the Queen too, so it could be an amusing evening. Austin, Tx stars Spoon play a sold out show at Scala and rising......

Well, here it is. New Year’s Eve. We’ve told you where to go for fireworks, and where to go dancing, but you may not be feeling up for the whole NYE hullabaloo. If that’s the case, or if you’re feeling very ambitious and hosting your own celebration at home and are in need of background telly, here are a few things you might want to take a peek at. We already knew London was capital of the world, but 2007 has firmly cemented us as the best city by far musically. The Millennium Dome reopened as the O2 Arena, hosting not only 21 nights of Prince, the Rolling Stones, Take That, and the Spice Girls first UK dates for 10 years, but also the most anticipated gig for a good decade or so: Led Zeppelin’s reformation. Unfortunately this Londonista had to settle for some......

Evan Parker supports, and this is sold out unfortunately, though be sure to check back for last minute availability or other sources. Lily Allen places her summer session at Somerset house, with support from Mark Ronson. Tickets are long gone, though Scarlet Mist may be useful for some. The Dykeenies bring......

When tipped for the top, many artists can't live up to the hype that has been created for them by the press. Mika, on the other hand is different. Revelling in the limelight, the 23 year old jumped on stage at London's Koko this week to start the first date of his six date UK tour, fully recovered from a bout of flu that cancelled the first date in Brighton on Tuesday. Support came......

What's the skinny? This isn't so much an introduction to a new band, as the first time we've talked about them on Londonist. If you know your electroclash, you'll know Client. After all, they have been about since 2003. Client are Sarah Blackwood, Kate Holmes and Emily Mann - all familar names. Sarah was the vocalist in morose 90s band Dubstar, Kate is poptones boss Alan McGee's wife and Emily is a former contestant......

Remember when we told you about Mika, well now the BBC have named him the sound of 2007. Brighton beats London for the title of the UK's healthiest city. A couple of weeks ago we told you about a new singer who is going to be B I G in 2007 : Mika. Tonight, he plays a gig at The Reindeer in The Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. The Reindeer is a restaurant and theatre space set up by the people behind Bethnal Green's lovely (if a little expensive) Bistrotheque, designed to last only December with the clever tagline 'Remember, the Reindeer is......

Last week we went out to watch a man from Beirut with colourful trousers and big hair, sing songs about fat girls, gay affairs, and lollipops. Tonight, we think you should do the same. Mika was born in the middle of a warzone in 1983 (yes, we realise that makes him disgustingly young), moved to Paris and spent most of his youth in London. What you need to know is that he's Universal Records......
