Our weekly roundup of film reviews returns, courtesy of James Bryan… This week, royal bodice-ripper The Other Boleyn Girl, zombies ahoy in Diary of the Dead, multiple viewpoint assassination thriller Vantage Point and The Rock doing one for the kids in The Game Plan. Don’t expect to learn much history in The Other Boleyn Girl, a film James Christopher in the Times describes as a “ravishing piece of trash” in his 2-star review. The......

Favourite naked woman dancing with dead pig story of the day: Animal rights activists have described as "sick" a live art performance involving a naked woman cradling a dead pig for four hours. Kira O'Reilly's show, called "Inthewrongplaceness" will be performed at the Newlyn Art Gallery in Penzance, southwest England, later Friday. James Green, the gallery's director, defended the show, saying that the audience would be controlled, with one person at a time watching......

There are 170 criminal gangs in London, half of which are involved in violent activity and they're responsible for more than a third of the capital's murders. A four-storey terrace house in a residential street in Woolwich was raided by police yesterday. The house was home to 800 cannabis plants. Five arrests have been made over last month's cartoon protests. One man is up in court today charged with inciting murder. London is going to......

Several million pounds are thought to have been stolen in a raid on a Securitas van last night in Woolston, Warrington. Queen's Club want to sell the Lawn Tennis Association to its members for £45 million, but first they have to work out if they legally own the place or not. The......

Since then through films like Nikita, The Big Blue and Leon he's constantly overwhelmed us with a frenetic shooting style, overly romantic doomed heroes and lots of fun over the top violence. Along the way he introduced us to the likes of......

Sunday sees the return of the Oscars, a chance for Hollywood's elite to reaffirm that people do indeed like them, really really like them, and maybe pick up an award or two. Sticking with our lifelong policy of "everything's better when there's money on it", Londonist has laid out a significant amount of its meagre earnings on what we hope will be the best dogs in show. Before we get to the choices, we......

Londonist is a little overexcited about Channel 4's new series The Heist which starts tomorrow. The premise of assembling "a gang of authentic criminal masterminds to attempt the perfect crime." sounds right up our street, but, as usual with these types of things, reality is way more interesting. Over the weekend The Times reported that the three gamblers who managed to take £1.3m off the Ritz casino nine months ago, have been allowed to......

With the unnering foresight and keenness of judgment that has made it the magazine of choice for London's city gents, the Economist has announced that "The London theatre increasingly turns to movie remakes". This news will of course come as a complete shock to anyone who hasn't lived in London for...ooooh, the past couple of weeks. "Visitors strolling through the West End could be forgiven if they felt they were transported to a video......
