This is a high profile donation, timed for maximum festivity and goodwill but Hirst's generosity is not spontaneous or even his own idea. He pledged works to the Tate back in 2004 as part of the Building the Tate Collection campaign which will also secure pieces by Gilbert & George, Louise Bourgeois, David Hockney and Rachel Whiteread, among others, in time. Respect to him, though, Hirst has pledged to donate up to 30 works in total which will be invaluable to the Tate at a time when the art market frequently punts stuff for millions and squillions of pounds.

Clubwatch: This Feeling

This Feeling has been making waves in the indie world since late last year. Held monthly at the oh so stylish Parker McMillan in EC1, the night aims to "merge contemporary indie aesthetics with the underground refuge of Parker McMilian in order to create a night that will be truly big". It lands this month on Friday (28 September) starring Oasis' Andy Bell DJing, The Rifles and The Lea Shores performing acoustic sets and a whole bundle of other indie goodness.

In the years since 2004's phenomenal "The Royal Society" album, they were scandalously dropped by their record label, parted with guitarist and founding member Andy Huxley and witnessed The Horrors steal the hearts of the nations Goth youth. They have a lot to prove tonight.

Supporting are two more local bands, punk psychos Bono Must Die, and Huski, whose band members are just as beautiful as their own individual take on sensual electro-pop. Go for the eye candy, go for the some stomping anthems, go for the atmosphere – everything about this evening has a lot of promise. Resident DJs Women's Hour and Craig Template will be playing a suitably eclectic mix of music throughout. And as if that weren’t enough, the press release says:
