New Years Eve is a funny one. Some people think it's the best night ever, and those who don't are kind of forced into thinking maybe they should be thinking that and invariably end up having a rubbish night. But how about you just think about it as an excuse to go dancing - that's never a bad idea. Here's our favourite dancefloor happenings tomorrow night. If it's dance music you want, then absolutely......

It seems summer is officially over now (though it seems to have never properly arrived really…), and with that the early autumn tours start to make an appearance. First on Monday night are two bands that are playing at this weekend’s Connect festival, Modest Mouse and the Polyphonic Spree. American band Modest Mouse play the Forum, with standing tickets sold out, but still with seats available at £18.50 each. The Spree brings their triumphant show......

The past few years haven't been kind to Brighton's finest Goth punk psychobilly exports, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. In the years since 2004's phenomenal "The Royal Society" album, they were scandalously dropped by their record label, parted with guitarist and founding member Andy Huxley and witnessed The Horrors steal the hearts of the nations Goth youth. They have a lot to prove tonight. Within 30 seconds of taking to the stage lead singer Guy......

Every once in a while a rock band comes along that thinks they're something special and tries to stir things up. Lord knows the Towers of London have tried their best, but unlike The Horrors they don't have the have the songs to boot. The Horrors are easy to recognise. For starters, their frontman has taken the name of Faris Rotter and they all have big, black hair, like a motley bunch of Russell......

We like it when bands ask people to go along and jump about in their videos. In fact we always want to go but some pesky thing known as work seems to get in the way. In any case, if you're not upto anything on Wednesday and fancy hanging round a band with monsterous black hair then this might take your fancy: The Horrors are looking for fans to appear in the forthcoming music givideo......

Last time we wrote about a list the NME had published, they tried to sue us. This time we're actually impressed by what they've written. Yes, it's time for that all important 'how cool am i today list' aka the NME 2006 Cool List. Instead of people like Pete Doherty and Alex Turner, who ruled the roost last year, this years list is surprising. It's topped by a woman: a woman who is not......

Kasabian have been added to the list of performers at the BBC Electric Proms. We only got the news yesterday and now that we've got round to bringing you the information, we hear that tickets for their gig have already sold out. Not bad for a 'not particularly well-known indie band'. God knows what would happen if a better-known band was added to the line-up; you'd probably have to travel back in time and......
