Move over Manchester, Shepherd's Bush has been officially proclaimed the rock and roll capital of Britain (based on population). A survey conducted by Guitar RockStar found that the West London neighbourhood with a population of 11,000 proudly boasts one rock star for every 1,222 residents. Shepherd's Bush was the birthplace of three quarters of the Who, two Sex Pistols, and half of the Clash, as well as being the adopted home of Pete Doherty.......

Today, in the evening, Led Zeppelin are showing us a whole lotta love by bringing it on home. Instead of going to California, or even over the hills and far away to Kashmir, their first reunion rock and roll concert for 27 years is happening at the 02 venue on the Greenwich peninsular. In real heartbreaker news, Londonist read the physical graffiti (OK, bit weak that one, we know) a bit too late – there......

As both bands and fans saunter back to the capital with the mother of all hangovers from Glastonbury, this week is a bit slow for music in the capital. Things are also running a bit slow for this Londonista, thus the later than normal posting of this weeks listings. Tonight sees Camden post-hardcore Hell is for Heroes play the Barfly, whilst Jason Molina fronted alt-country collective Magnolia Electric Co. play Scala. Hell is For Heroes......

Nobody would have guessed that Stephen Tyler is a mere 59 years old judging by his performance at last night’s Hyde Park Calling finale with Aerosmith headlining a day of stellar bands. Strutting around the stage like only he can, Tyler had the audience in the palm of his hand from the opener “Love in an Elevator”. Whilst Aerosmith undoubtedly stole the show, Hyde Park Calling was a three stage festival which showcases the best......

A gang of Albanian assassins murdered a rival in a disagreement over the who was to steal from London's parking meters. Register your bike with the Met and then if it gets stolen and subsequently recovered, it will be returned to you and you can ponder what to do with it now that you've bought a new one. Paddy Ashdown was offered a job in Gordon Brown's cabinet but refused it. A London wide......

Missed out on tickets to Glastonbury? Can't wait til the end of the summer for Reading festival? Wish all the cool festivals were on your doorstep? No need to worry as we have the answer. Get yourselves down to Stoke Newington (yes, you did read that right) on Sunday 10th June and go and party at Stokefest 2007. It's London's very own mini festival right in the middle of Hackney. OK, so it's not......

Want to race down the motorway from London to Brighton with the wind in your hair, a parka on your back and a classic soundtrack by The Who buzzing in your ears? Perhaps you don't go in for all that reckless mod nonsense and for you the phrase 'my generation' involves less rocker-fighting and more Nintendo-playing? Leave the sixties revival down in the tube station at midnight and get down with the pocket calculator......

More acts have been confirmed for the inaugural BBC Electric Proms, taking place 25th-29th October this year. The Electric Proms is looking to create "new moments in music" (there should probably be a trademark symbol there) so needs to be something other than just being another set of gigs. To this end each of the artists appearing has been challenged to come up with something innovative for their performance that reflects the ambition of......

Over the next two months the NFT are presenting Access All Areas, a veritable phantasmogoria of rock docs and concert films running between the 2nd June and 30th July. As they say:We can't offer you over-priced beer or appalling toilet facilities, but if you want rock 'n' roll circus, the NFT will be providing the essential festival experience of the summer! It's been a while since we were last in the NFT bar so we're......

Not one but two BA posts this morning, don't ever say we're not good to you. To be honest the real reason we split the posts up was to avoid any fighting between the various fringe lengths of the fans, for this week a host of hard, heavy and less than hirsute shows have been lined up. In the grumbly crumbly corner, the Hyde Park Calling festival, which we mentioned a few weeks back......

With a huge Glastonbury shaped hole in the calendar this year and the faint promise of warm weather lingering on the horizon, it's time for Festival Season to slip into Wacky Races mode. With T In The Park and V 2006 neck and neck out in front, and Download and Monsters of Rock, rapidly rolling out the big guns (Guns 'n' Roses at Download anyone?) in second place, the others are trailing far behind.......

With the music dungionistas breaking out their finest band t-shirts ahead of tomorrow's party and arguments breaking out over whether to play Outkast's version of Hey Ya or download a bootleg of The Twilight Singer's, we're going to use this week's MWMN to mention a few shows just announced as we really don't think we're going to make it on Friday. First off fans of Kaiser Chiefs will be able to pay homage at......

As London returns to life after the horrific bombings of last Thursday so does Londonist to bring you our 'insightful and necessary' views on this week's bag of new releases. With the major labels obviously unwilling to put any big indie albums up against the might of the latest Charlotte Church offering it allows us to cast our nets a little further afield and choose a collection of more eclectic releases this week than......
