With only a few weeks to go until the Mayoral Elections BBC London decided to turn its attention to the big 3 contenders' online presences. Who better to consult than your very own Londonist? It's time the race for City Hall addressed some key questions. Where is the best place to get goss on Boris? Is Brian looking for love? And why does Ken refer to himself in the third person anyway? See Londonist......

Now, stories from the IT world ordinarily don’t do much for Londonist besides make our eyes glaze over. (We’re sorry, IT people, we’re sure you’re lovely, that your jobs are fascinating, and that we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you. It’s just that we can’t understand what you’re saying.) So when we noticed this story about a new website created to help IT companies bid for contracts for the 2012......

This chesty old hoare-nut comes round time and again. What's the most emblematic edifice in the capital? To end all debate, Londonist went in for a more scientific approach than petty arguing on a forum. We visited all the London web sites we could think of. In each case, we noted down which structures the site features in its logo or banner. The one chosen by the most websites wins. So was it Tower......

With the sun out, the temperatures high, one can only think of one thing-- what's going on in the World of the -ist's? Bostonist dug deep to uncover Barack Obama's unpaid parking tickets, their Governor's latest ethical lapse, and a plagarizing sports writer. Chicagoist had everything in twos: two views on having the Olympics, losing two members of their Super Bowl team, and two music festivals. DCist put their noses in legal books as......

What is more absurd than an oil company sponsoring a wildlife photography contest? Possibly someone destroying wildlife photography in order to protest an oil company sponsoring a wildlife photography contest. Protestors from the "Camp For Climate Action" smeared a substance resembling oil onto photographs displayed at London's Natural History Museum. The photos were finalists in the Wildlife Photographer Of The Year Competition, which was sponsored by multinational petrochemical company, Shell. So that's sort of......

Drop a stone over the edge of the Internets and odds are it'll hit about a hundred horrible movie sites for every good one and around five thousand unreadable blogs so being given the opportunity to point a few more (thousand) people at some of my faves is just too good an opportunity to pass up. Let's get the shameless self promotion out of the way - or try and sidestep it at least......

What are some of the best question-and-answer web sites out there? All right no one has asked me that, but question columns are great timewasters and here are a few of my favourites: Savage Love. Dan Savage's classic weekly sex and relationship advice column. E! Online's Answer Bitch. Everything you need to know about Hollywood shenanigans. Updated every Saturday. Columbia University's Go Ask Alice! If you've worried about it, they have an answer for......

As you will have noticed by now, we here at Londonist most often refer to ourselves with the collective "we". We are applying Gothamist editorial guidance that the Ist empire should be one of collaborative, collective blogs of like-minded individuals and not a venue for the self-obsessed vanity that is endemic across the rest of the blogosphere. Beyond that, we in London specifically are a close-knit team of friends outside the tiny window of......

Have you tried ordering your groceries online? How does it work? Is it cheaper? Buying groceries online is convenient but not perfect. Shopping with the four major supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, and Waitrose through their online partner Ocado) is easy: Register for an account, select your items, supply credit card details. You can buy everything you would in person, even produce. The order is then assembled in your nearest store by a "personal shopper",......
